Database Development

Data is the life blood of any business. Without it functioning is difficult if not impossible. Too many companies struggle with a mixture of 'off the shelf' data capture and reporting tools, with a consequent reduction in efficiency and staff/customer satisfactions. In the early days of computing there were many small programs available which served various parts of a business which had to be 'mixed and matched' to build a system that served a company's needs. In the current era the most practical approach involves a single application which provides access to data throughout the company.

For smaller businesses, Access is an ideal system to produce company wide data systems. For larger, network based systems SQL or Oracle with a user interface based on Access, Visual Basic, Java or HTML is to be preferred. No matter the size of your organisation, or the business area you address, I can help you produce a more efficient and user friendly data environment.

Over the years I have produced database systems using a wide range of products, from dBase II and Delta V in the late 1980's through Paradox and Approach, to Access and SQL Server. Each served its purpose at the time. The tools available in the modern era mean there is no longer a need to 'make do' with a sub standard system. Call me for an informal chat, or send me an e-mail with an outline of your requirements and I'll be happy to give you an idea of cost and time implications.
